Harline Larkey B.A., M.S., ESMT II
Harline's belief about the relationship between human and horse
is summed up on a plaque just inside her barn door, which reads, "Enter
the Sanctuary of the Horse Ever with Honor and Respect". A lifelong horsewoman,
she rode Saddlebreds as a child, gradually evolved to dressage and maintains
an unwavering belief in the value of classical horsemanship as a basis
for all equestrian pursuits. She competed successfully in dressage in the
early 1980's and was the first president of the Kansas Dressage and Combined
Training Association. Harline developed a deep appreciation of horses as
athletes, and dressage improved her understanding and awareness of movement.
When a back injury responded best to alternative therapies, she began
a natural progression to learning massage therapy for horses. Harline studied
equine massage therapy with 2 different programs in Colorado and practices
in Colorado and Wyoming. She has 7 years of experience as a vet tech in
small and mixed practices. Over the last 25 years she has also trained
dogs, taught obedience and done canine behavior consultation, as well as
training and showing her Great Danes in breed, obedience and agility (yes,
agility) and Therapy Dog activities.
Harline holds a B.A. in Speech and Psychology, a Masters in Counseling,
and was a volunteer EMT firefighter for 5 years. She and her husband, Nolan,
live in Cheyenne, Wyoming with their Great Danes, 3 horses and 4 cats.
She believes strongly in the ability of animals to empower, teach and heal
if we respect, honor and listen to them.
